WSU and EWU Men’s Basketball Matchup Set for December 22nd in Spokane
The court is set, the rivalry continues, and the 509 Classic is building momentum as one of the Inland Northwest’s premier annual sporting events.
Following the successful 509 Classic matchup in 2025, Eastern Washington University and Washington State University will return to Numerica Veterans Arena on December 22, 2026, for the second year of their three-year agreement to bring men’s college basketball to downtown Spokane.
The first edition of the 509 Classic delivered an exciting atmosphere and memorable moments for fans throughout the region, highlighted by WSU’s 78-63 victory. Now, the rivalry returns for another chapter as the two programs once again compete on one of the Northwest’s biggest stages.
The 509 Classic brings together two proud regional programs and unites fans from across Washington and the Inland Northwest. More than just a game, the event continues to grow as a celebration of basketball, community pride, and the shared passion that connects the region.
